Be Prepared

Ephesians 6:13-17
13 Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. 14 Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, 15 and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. 16 In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. 17Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.

Just a quick thought for today, be prepared. You don't go out of the door without being prepared for wherever you are going. If you're going to class you take your books, notebook, laptop, and a pencil. If you're going on a trip you take your suitcase, some snacks, an ipod, and mad libs. Well the same goes for being a Christian. You don't start each day without God and without putting on your armor. You will not be able to stand firm without your armor. Especially your sword, which is the word of God.

My Pastor made a great point yesterday in service. He said, "Why do you think God gave us a sword instead of a spear or maybe a bow and arrow?" It's because those weapons are for long-distance warfare. The enemy likes to get up close and personal with our lives and we need a sword for battling off the things that come against us at a close range.

So don't start your day without your armor and especially your sword!
