What my mama has taught me.

The inevitable has happened. I have become my mother.
During the 'lost years' [ages 13-16] I remember saying several times, "I never want to be like my mom." Now that I am grown up and mature, I realize the wisdom that my mother carries. I see the blessing of the Lord upon her life. I see her influence on others and hear the truth being spoken from her. As a now, wise 26 [almost 27] year old I now am very proud to say that I am just like my mama.
Here are 10 things my mom has taught me.
1. To yell, "COVER!" [If someone sneezes or coughs, my mom will always remind us to cover our mouth.]
2. The importance of putting things back where they belong. [However, no one can find something that has been lost like a mom can.]
3. Not to neglect your time with God. [I love when I can hear my mom praying or worshipping while she is home. It's encouraging to kids to hear their parents pray.]
4. How to teach & train children. [I credit both of my parents for passing down their awesome teaching skills but my mom has really shown me through example how to train up young children.]
5. How to make a enchiladas, rice & frijoles borrachos and serve it hot to a group of people. [I feel like this is a skill that may come in handy in the future.]
6. How to not make a cake. [My mom will be the first to tell you that she cannot make a cake. I also cannot make a cake. However, I like to blame our oven for always messing them up.]
7. Her top secret salsa recipe!
8. Always have post it notes with you. [My mom is the post it note queen! They are everywhere... and I have to admit, they come in handy.]
9. How to serve others with a cheerful heart.
10. To follow whole heartedly God's will for my life and when in doubt ask Mom for advice.
HAPPY MAMA'S DAY! I AM SO BLESSED TO HAVE SUCH AN AMAZING, GODLY MAMA. I LOVE YOU VERY MUCH!
