Susie has a pencil and Bobby has to try and get the pencil from Susie. So… Bobbie tries to pull the pencil out of her hand. He got it. But he wasn’t supposed to get the pencil he was just supposed to try and get the pencil.
My high school band director did this lesson with us one day to help us realize that the word “try” doesn’t really mean much. This lesson has stayed with me ever since. The word “try” is not in my vocabulary. In life you either will or you won’t you either do it or you don’t. There is no try!
