Review [Mary Kay CC Cream]

A couple weekends ago the gorgeous, Jennifer Baker gave me a Mary Kay makeover. I haven't tried any Mary Kay products in a while and was eager to play with everything. After getting the full glam treatment I decided I needed to order the CC cream. After going through a battle with my skin [and winning that battle], I wanted to have something lightweight to wear every day. A "your skin but better" look.
Product ClaimGet easy complexion correction with a formula that acts like makeup and is formulated like skin care. Delivers 8 benefits in 1 step. Lightweight coverage for a natural-, flawless-looking complexion. Easy out-the-door option without that “made-up” look. Minimal shades cover a wide range of skin tones. Suitable for all skin types.
Pros
Lightweight feel
Medium coverage
Build-able coverage
SPF [you should always have an SPF on your face]
Long lasting
Easy to match your shade [I have medium-deep. I think it will be perfect for the spring months too when I get a little darker.]
I love the pump on it. [you get the perfect amount of product every time]
Smooth/satin finish with a slight glow

Cons
Price [I feel like we always want things to be cheaper. I feel like $20 could be a good price depending on how many uses I can get out of it.]
I did need to blot with blotting sheets about halfway through the day. [that is normal though if I have a more active day]
Smell [because of the SPF in it, it has a slight sunscreen scent to it. That just makes me think of summertime thought, it doesn't bug me too much.]
Would I buy this again? Possibly, depending on how long the product lasts.
I've used it for three days so far and I love it. It makes me feel proud of the work that I have put into my skin. It's still my skin but just a little better.

Favorite Drugstore Brand

The drugstore really has some excellent options for makeup and beauty products. If I were to pick one brand to use exclusively, Maybelline wins!  [I did go back and forth between Revlon & Maybelline. Mascaras were the deciding factor.]
Here's what I love from Maybelline.
Instant Age Rewind Eraser Concealer: This is one of my favorite under-eye concealers. It's moisturizing, doesn't crease, and covers up my tiredness.
SuperStay 24 Hour Foundation [pure beige]: I have re-purchased this foundation 3 times and it does not disappoint. The color is a perfect match and it really does last 24 hours!
Maybelline Master Glaze Glisten Blush Stick  [pink fever]: One of the best cream blush sticks I have used. Pretty pigment and long lasting color.
Eye Studio Color Tattoo [bad to the bronze]: Eyeshadow in a flash is what I like to call this. Swipe some on your eyelid and you're good to go. No creasing and tons of pigment.
Expert Wear Eyeshadow Quad [designer chocolates]: A great basic eyeshadow quad to create so many different looks. This is a mush have!
Eye Studio Lasting Gel Liner  [blackest black]: When I know I am going to be out & about and need an all day liner, this is the one I go for. Easy to apply and doesn't melt throughout the day.
Great Lash Clear Mascara: This is a great eyebrow setting gel. It's not flakey and will keep your eyebrows tamed all day.
The Falsies Big Eyes Mascara [blackest black] Both The Falsies and Falsies Big Eyes are excellent mascaras.
Color Whisper LipColor [coral ambition]: Lasting color and moisture, I have a few color whispers and love them all but coral ambition is my fav.
BabyLips & BabyLips Dr. Rescue: These are perfect for in your purse/pocket lip balms. Gorgeous color stain and moisture in super cute packaging. Dr. Rescue has a menthol scent to it that I don't really like but it doesn't last long.
Clean Express Waterproof Eye Makeup Remover: A gentle eye makeup remover is a must and maybelline makes a great one.

Best In Beauty 2013: Makeup

Now here comes the fun post! MAKEUP!!! I have enjoyed branching out to new brands and products all year and these are my standouts and most used products for makeup during 2013. Most of these products I have purchased multiple times throughout the year as well as recommended them to friends. Remember to leave a comment telling me your favorite makeup item(s) from 2013!
1. Make Up Forever HD Foundation [N160]: This full coverage foundation is worth the price. It gives an HD flawless coverage that lasts all day.
2. Maybelline Super Stay 24hr Foundation [pure beige]: I have bought this 3 times and love it. It has full/lightweight coverage and it's a great price!
3. Make Up Forever Mat Velvet+ [N65]: I like to use the matte version during the summer/fall months when I can tend to get more oily. It has the same HD coverage but a flat finish.
4.  Maybelline Instant Age Rewind [medium]: My go-to under eye concealer!
5. L'Oreal True Match Crayon Concealer [n4-5 light/medium]: This is my new favorite concealer for blemishes and spots. The coverage is thick and full and helps with under eye circles too.
6. Rimmel Stay Matte Powder [018 creamy beige]: This is the perfect setting powder to finish off your look or to touch it up during the day. I keep it in my purse and have used it a lot and still haven't hit pan yet.
1/ 2/ 3/ 4/ 5/ 6
1. Milani Baked Blush [luminoso]: A light pink sheen that is perfect all year round.
2. Milani Baked Blush [red vino]: If I want a more dramatic look this is my go to blush. The pigment is strong and last all day.
3. Wet n Wild [pearlescent pink]: A great everyday blush that gives a "just pinched" look.
4. Wet n Wild [heather silk]: I think it's obvious that this blush is very well loved. The pigment is strong but is very blendable.
1/ 2/ 3/ 4
1. Elf Eyebrow Kit: I use an angled brush to just fix and fill in my eyebrows. The gel formula helps keep my brows in place too.
2. Urban Decay Primer Potion: I accidentally bought a professional size of this primer potion and I still have a lot left after using it everyday.
Elf Liquid EyeLiner: I use the urban decay liner for my lower water line. It doesn't smudge and lasts all day. Stand out product of the year are these two e.l.f liners. For $1 and $3 these are the best liquid liners out there in my opinion. They are easy to apply and have all day lasting power.
4. Urban Decay Naked Palettes: Each of these palettes is a great investment. The packaging and the shadow colors are gorgeous.
5. L'Oreal Infallible Lacquer Liner [171-blackest black]: If you want a good gel liner that stays put all day this is it. I use an angled brush to apply it.
6. Wet N Wild Eyeshadow Trio [walking on eggshells]/ Wet N Wild Eyeshadow Trio [silent treatment]: I think Wet N Wild has some of the greatest eyeshadow trios. You also can't beat the price. These two are great basics to have in your collection.
7. Maybelline The Rocket Volum' ExpressAvon Wash-Off Waterproof: I use the rocket as a workday mascara, it's light on my lashes and doesn't smudge. I use the wash-off waterproof during the summer. You seriously can go in the pool or to the beach and it does not come off.
8. Maybelline Falsies Big Eyes: Overall this mascara is amazing! I have converted several friends to this one and they love it too. It keeps the curl and adds lots of volume to my lashes.

November Favorites

Another month has come and gone. November seriously felt like it was only one week long. Here are some things that I have been loving during the month of November.
Tori Kelly EP: Forward
I have followed Tori on youtube for a while and knew how talented she is. I saw her performance on Ellen and was once again blown away! Go buy her new EP. You will not be disappointed!
NYX Butter Gloss: Each one of these glosses are amazing! Everyone I recommend them to has bought one and loved it! If you want to start your collection, creme brulee and apple strudel are great nude options.
Bath & Body Works Winter Candy Apple & Vanilla Snowflake Mason Jar Candles: The candles are basically amazing and are a perfect sweet scented combination. And you can reuse the mason jars when you have finished the candle. Win-Win!
Elf Liquid Liner: Ok, first off this liner is $1! If you have a pretty steady hand when it comes to liquid liner than this one is for you. It stays all day long and is very pigmented. If you are new to using liquid liner than stay away from this. It's tough to try and fix it with a q-tip and can get quite messy. If you're willing to be patient with it, than for $1 it can be an inexpensive way to learn how to use it.
Maybelline Super Stay 24hr Makeup Foundation in Soft Beige: This has great coverage and is very light. I have used this all month and it's just about gone. I will for sure be purchasing another one.
Maybelline Falsies Big Eyes: I love falsies original mascara but I love that this one has a smaller brush for my lower lashes.
Milani Baked Blush in Red Vino: This blush is pretty dark but also very blend-able. It's a perfect winter/holiday shade. The shimmer is very subtle too.
Boots: During the month of November I think every girl got out their boot collection. Whether you're the girl that wears Uggs, rain boots, tall boots, or ankle boots. The boots for sure came out of storage this month! (I'm wearing the teal rainboots in the pic)
No better way to end my November favorites than with some yummy treats.
Chocolate Chex: What is there not to love? It's definitely a treat cereal that's for sure but for someone who can't have dairy, it satisfies my chocolate sweet tooth.
Mike and Ike's: I have gone to the theater twice this month and these are for sure my choice for theater candy! Because each box is $1, you can stock up and save some for whenever your blood sugar needs a little help.

That's it! Tell me what you have been loving during this past month!

What's in my GIANT bag?

After having the hygienist at my dentist appointment comment, "Wow, that's a big bag!" (in the nicest way possible of course). I explained to her that I was gone over the weekend and haven't switched back to a normal sized bag yet. So, I thought I would share with you what I found in my bag after a crazy weekend before I switch back to an everyday smaller, weighs more like a baby rather than a toddler bag.
My bag is pretty large. I bought it last summer to use as a carry on for a trip to California. Basically you can fit anything into it. Laptop, text books, a small toddler... you get the point. [bought from justfab they don't have the same bag on their site anymore but their bags are amazing!!!]
Eh... it looks scary huh? It is also pretty heavy.
Not 1... but 2 makeup bags. NYX blotting sheets, NYX silver glitter rollerball, l'oreal concealer crayon, nail polish remover pads, casino no 5 sephora eyeshadow, stella rollerball perfume, rimmel stay matte powder, lemon hand sanitizer. All perfect weekend essentials, especially the glitter.
tic tacs, guard tape (electrical tape), vitamin c drops, ipod5, revlon lipgloss in super natural
wallet, random $10 bill, dove go fresh, urban decay de-slick, first aid kit, EOS balm, baby lips, revlon just bitten lip-stain, starburst wrappers
hair tie, gum (candy cane gum- yes, you need to buy it), drum stick, guard block, keys, my "i'm important" badge, and my favorite item that was found... a packet of sweet relish.

There ya have it folks. As much as people share "what's in my bag" blogs, videos, instagrams, I think the contents of a woman's handbag will always be a complete surprise. Not only to the person asking, but to the woman who owns the bag.

Ulta Haul

Birthdays are always a great excuse to slip away to Ulta for the evening to look for the perfect gift and go up and down the isles of all the beauty products. Although it is also a great way to spend more money than you actually have in your checking account. Gotta check your self-control at the door.
This is what I bought, most of which ended up being a gift but you can't go in without getting something for yourself too!
Real Techniques brushes are amazing! I am slowly building a collection! Designed by PixiWoo beauty guru, Samantha Chapman. Try one of the brushes and you will be in love!
I have heard great things about this tangle teezer brush. It is supposed to be really gentle with all the tangles in your hair. Plus it's pink!
I have been in love with EOS lip balms for a while. I have one on every level of my house and always have one in my purse. The honey suckle is a great spring/summer scent!
NYX blushes are so pretty and pigmented! I am slowly collecting each one. This one is Peach.
Essie Polish: Cute as a Button
How cute are these nail polish remover pads? These were a checkout grab. I am sure they will come in handy at some point.
These Nivea lip butters do not dissipoint! I am in love with matte lips right now and if you have cracked lips you just can't do a matte lipstick, it will show everything. This lip butter will heal your lips overnight. NO JOKE!
Rimmel Scandaleyes Kohl Black Liner... not that impressed with this quite yet. I originally got it to line my water line but it ran down onto my skin about an hour after I applied it. I haven't tried it on my upper lid yet though.

This trip to Ulta was an overall success. I stayed within my budget and I got some great gifts for a friend and for myself. :)

Friday Favorites: April 12

During our spring break road trip these were the candy of choice. I forgot I had them in my purse until they started making noise. So yummy!
Spotify is probably my new obsession. My brother has a gift of finding the best music. Olafur Arnalds is the one he shared with me this week!
Wet N Wild cosmetics are such a great bargain. Especially when they are buy one get one 50%. Blush for $3 and an amazing eyeshadow palette for $3. Sign me up!
Gap Super Skinny Jeans are quite possibly the comfiest jeans ever. Don't be thrown off by the name. They aren't skin tight. They are super stretchy and are just a quality pair of jeans.
I am so in love with this baby zebra print from animal print shop.

HAPPY FRIDAY!
