Because I'm Happy [10 things that are making me terribly happy III]

1. Friends. It's a little crazy to me that it took me this long to finally have some real and genuine friends but all in God's timing right? The people I have come to meet in the past two months have made my life so enjoyable and I might even say have changed the course of my life.
2. Fellowship. Girls night, nights out on the town, movie nights, or some old school skating at a roller rink. It is all fellowship and it's making me happy.
3. Worship. I have been having some awesome alone times of worship with God as well as community worship. His presence is flowing in my life!
4. Singing. If you drive past me on the road I will probably be having an amazing karaoke session.
5.  Black Coffee. Can't go a day without it. I am also aware that black coffee will always be on my 'what makes me terribly happy' list.
6. Finally owning an iphone! It took me years but after my android became possessed by Satan, I figured it was time to abandon the droid and get me an iphone!
7. Conversations in the car with my brother. I think that is the place where we connect the most.
8. Meeting new people. Lately I have been stretching myself out of my comfort zone and have been striking up conversations with strangers. At the market, at church, at Target. Anywhere. It's been something that has been uncomfortable and somewhat scary for me. I can't get any better at it if I don't practice, right? Face your fears!
9. Elevation Worship's Album 'Wake Up the Wonder.' I could listen to this album all day long!
10. My future.

Spring can only get better...

My body decided to welcome Spring by having a bonfire... in my throat. This past weekend was spent either in my bed or on the couch. My immune system is normally as strong as Paul Bunyan and his blue ox. I guess it decided to take a day off. I am the worst sick patient. I am stubborn, pathetic, and just not a happy person. Luckily my dog, Duncan decided that I was tolerable and kept me company while I binged my way through 6 episodes of Unique Sweets on the Cooking Channel. [amazing show!!!]
"Feed a cold, starve a fever." How does the saying go?  For some reason I thought it would be a good idea to try and sweat out the fever. Dumb idea. I went to the gym for 45 minutes for a sad attempt to sweat out some toxins. I looked pathetic. It made me feel worse and did not work.
^ emergen-c, nyquil knockoff, and EOS tangerine = best friends ^
^ along with every other person in the world, I also watched Frozen over the weekend. I also would like to add that 'Let it Go' has been played 68 times according to my itunes library. [no shame] ^

Life Lately [according to my phone]

These past couple weeks have been brutal. Between the freezing temperatures and on and off again snow storms, and 4 snow days in a row (snow days are when school is cancelled because of the stupid snow, if you didn't know), winter is just giving us a beating.
Here's what has happened lately according to my phone photos.
^a recent post-church venture to Cabelas for a birthday present, my best friends and I discovered they sell roasted nuts. If you know me at all, you know that I love a good bag of roasted almonds or pecans. We couldn't resist buying some.
Also, it's winter. Coffee is a necessity when you're out and about.
[sidenote: isn't Hannah's handbag gorgeous!?!]^
^I am training for a 10k in May and running outside in the winter is brutal. The treadmill has been my best friend. I wish there was a juice bar closer to where I live. I went to SIP when I was downtown and picked up a 'beet the blues' juice after a successful run.^
^I say, rainboots can be worn in a snowstorm. Water is water. ^
^blurry bundled up selfie while venturing out into the #polarvortex.^
^snow. snow. snow. Hopefully all of this will melt by summer. My spring break vacay to Texas is looking great right about now. SO SICK OF SNOW!^

Lessons from a Toddler

Getting to spend my week with some incredible little kids is the greatest career and blessing ever. I spend my days playing and training them but the kids teach me some great lessons too.
I thought I would share one with you.
So, if you don't play with blocks on a daily basis like I do, let me explain the process for you. You dump out all the blocks, start building, using different size blocks you make the tallest tower you can until it falls over (or someone else knocks it down).
Where are you going with this Bee???
Building a block tower is a great picture of your daily life. You can make an incredible tower that is strong and sturdy or your can make the skinniest tower that will get knocked over as soon as someone sneezes. What does your life tower look like?
What/who do you set as the foundation of your life? What goes on top of that? What are your priorities? What takes up most of your time? What do you talk about the most?
I went through a season where my tower was really messed up. I had put myself as the foundation of my tower. Which, you will always let yourself down and your tower (life) will constantly be falling apart. It's like building your house upon the sand. Obviously the rain is going to come and wash your house away eventually.
I really took an inventory of my life through prayer and others speaking to me about the craziness that my life had become. Putting God as the foundation will keep your life strong and sturdy, no matter how many blocks you decide to pile on top of it.
Matthew 16: 24-26 [The Message]
"Then Jesus went to work on his disciples. “Anyone who intends to come with me has to let me lead. You’re not in the driver’s seat; I am. Don’t run from suffering; embrace it. Follow me and I’ll show you how. Self-help is no help at all. Self-sacrifice is the way, my way, to finding yourself, your true self. What kind of deal is it to get everything you want but lose yourself? What could you ever trade your soul for?"
